Salem's OnePlace.com Gets ''In Touch'' With ''Leading the Way'' and Brings Ministry Home to Listeners

CAMARILLO, Calif., Sep 7, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Ministry doesn't have to be confined to a sanctuary or Sunday service. In fact, it can be as close as your computer.

Salem Communications Corp. (Nasdaq:SALM), the eighth largest radio broadcasting company in the country, Tuesday announced that OnePlace Ltd., its Internet technology company, has agreed with Charles Stanley's In Touch and Michael Youssef's Leading the Way ministries to provide interactive, on-demand "streaming" of ministry programming.

Listeners throughout the world will be able to interact with the programs online.

In Touch and Leading the Way join Truth for Life, with Cleveland pastor Alistair Begg, to form OnePlace's growing, online radio ministry network. OnePlace's "streaming" technology will allow any program broadcast within the last 30 days to be heard at any time selected by the online listener.

"We are thrilled to have an opportunity to feature Charles Stanley and Michael Youssef," said Eric Halvorson, chief operating officer for Salem Communications. "In Touch and Leading the Way will be introduced to a brand new audience while giving already dedicated listeners a new level of access.

"We don't just want people to hear helpful information, we want them to be able to customize it to their own needs and this technology will help them do that."

OnePlace is an Internet pioneer in online technologies and e-commerce. It is also the only "streaming" provider in the Christian market to develop technology that allows listeners to interact with a radio program and e-commerce online.

OnePlace has also developed databases of Christian counselors, Christian products, churches, and created alliances with other ministry partners to form a cohesive online Christian community.

OnePlace has three e-commerce sites devoted to the Christian community: the ChristianSuperstore.net, SonicPlace.com, and SermonSearch.com. Salem's radio stations can be accessed at OnePlace.com.

Salem Communications, with headquarters in Camarillo, is the leading radio broadcasting company in the United States focusing on the religious listening audience. Salem owns 52 radio stations in 27 geographically diverse markets across the country, including 19 of the top 25, and also owns Salem Radio Network, which offers talk programming, news and music to more than 1,250 radio affiliates.
