INTERNET FRAUD COUNCIL HOLDS INAUGURAL MEETING INDUSTRY'S FIRST PRIVATE-PUBLIC SECTOR CONSORTIUM TO COMBAT INTERNET FRAUD FORMALIZES

Organization and Elects Officers

RICHMOND, Va., Nov 2, 1999 -- The Internet Fraud Council (IFC), a new member-affiliated group of organizations actively involved in supporting the prevention, interdiction and prosecution of fraud committed through use of the Internet, today held its inaugural meeting. The advisory board appointed Paul K. Fichtman, president and COO of RiskWise.com, Tom Arnold, CTO of CyberSource, and John B. Russell Jr., partner for the law firm of Becker, Russell & Becker, to the positions of chairman, vice chairman and secretary/treasurer, respectively.

Paul Fichtman, president and COO of RiskWise.com, a leading Internet risk management company, brings a well-founded understanding of fraud and risk to the IFC. Prior to joining RiskWise.com, he was executive vice president of the National Fraud Center and has numerous years of experience in the information technology arena with Unisys.

"I am excited to chair this organization as it is singularly unique in its efforts to join together a variety of experts for the sole purpose of reducing instances of Internet fraud," said Fichtman, chairman for the IFC. "Because it specifically addresses private-sector Internet fraud concerns and the exchange between both private sector commercial and public sector law enforcement and regulatory agencies, the IFC is poised to be the premier resource for the development of best practices and tools for alleviating the threat of cybercrime."
