NADA Asks for Cash for Clunkers Extension

Auto Dealers across the US are working overtime to submit paperwork to the federal government to get rebate money for their clients prior to the new deadline of Monday night this coming week. Computer issues are delaying some of the processing leading to the extension requests.

The National Automotive Dealers Association is now hoping that applications received up and until August 31st will be accepted by the government for cars traded in prior to the August 24th 8 pm deadline. The president has promised that every dealership that takes in a Cash for Clunkers automobile will be credited for the trade. Some dealers have ended the program early themselves as government reimbursement has been slow.

Facebook.com Valued at $10 Billion

Facebook.com received an investment of $200 million the week from Digital Sky Technologies (DTS). The investment was in exchange for 1.96 in equity, thus resulting in a valuation of $10 billion for all the equity. The investor also wants to purchase outstanding shares from employees and others for an additional $100 million.

WalMart Looking to Increase Tech Sales

WalMart reported today in a press release that they are revamping their electronic areas to have wider aisles and more brand names. All 3,500 WalMart stores nationally will get improved consumer electronic areas beginning this week with more mobile solutions and home entertainment devices. WalMart has continued to take market share away from traditional electronic outlets like Circuit City and Best Buy and plans to continue the current trend.

Delta Offering Wi-Fi on 50% of Flights Delta Air Lines is now offering WI-FI service on 50% of it's flights within the United States. They are leading the way with number of aircraft offering the highly desired service. 139 airplanes now come with WI-FI access for passengers to surf the Internet from their laptops during flight. Other portal electronic devices may also access the service for instant messaging and email. The company's goal is to have the service available on all flights to allow customers the ease of knowing which airline to select for their personal and business air travel.
