Seagate Software Initiative Nets 500,000 Additional Licenses In First Two Weeks
SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif., June 28 -- Seagate Software, (NYSE: SEG) a leader in business intelligence with more than five million licenses shipped, today announced their "free business intelligence software" initiative -- launched June 15, 1999 -- has sparked outstanding initial response. Two weeks into the offer, there are an estimated 500,000 additional licenses of Seagate Software in the market, resulting from more than 15,000 online requests at http://www.fetchseagate.com to receive copies of Seagate Analysis and Seagate Info. "Industry response to this initiative has been encouraging and rewarding," said Greg Kerfoot, president and chief operating officer, Seagate Software. "Our goal is to accelerate the adoption rate of business intelligence software into the corporate mainstream, and introduce organizations to the benefits of making better informed business decisions. The magnitude of responses and widespread attention we've received reinforces our belief that this was the right thing to do, at the right time, for the business intelligence industry." On June 15, 1999, Seagate Software announced the distribution of its award-winning business intelligence software to millions of users around the world. The first product is a new, stand-alone desktop application called Seagate Analysis, which incorporates Seagate Software's award-winning ad hoc query, OLAP and reporting technologies. The second product is a 50-user license of Seagate Info 7, a proven product used by thousands of organizations worldwide. This newly enhanced version of Seagate Info -- now easier than ever to install and use -- links Seagate Analysis users in a complete enterprise system for accessing, analyzing, reporting and sharing corporate information. |
"Several prospective customers evaluating business intelligence solutions at the time of the launch have escalated the importance of purchasing business intelligence software for their organizations since receiving the free full-product version," continued Kerfoot. "Many organizations that are using competing products have also chosen to implement Seagate Analysis and Seagate Info in order to evaluate our products' functionality within their current systems." "This is exactly the response we wanted to invoke with this initiative," concluded Kerfoot. Seagate Analysis and the 50-user license copy of Seagate Info 7 are available free of charge from Seagate Software.
