VERTICAL SOFTWARE GAINS NATIONAL EXPOSURE WITH SUMMERVILLE ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES SERVER-BASED COMPUTING DEPLOYMENT

Beltsville, Maryland - July 8, 1999 - Vertical Software, Inc. (VSI) announced today that is has successfully completed the first phase of the Summerville Assisted Living Facilities' Server-based Computing national deployment.

Twelve months ago, VSI was approached by Summerville's Assisted Living Facilities, from Alexandria Virginia, with a major concern that many organizations face. How was Summerville going to meet their aggressive growth plans, provide access to mission critical applications, provide effective systems management, and meet their technology goals, while maintaining a sound fiscal strategy that would allow them to meet their expected profits? VSI's developed a Server-based computing solution, which allows Summerville to achieve all their stated goals.

Summerville chose VSI, a Microsoft Solutions Provider - Partner and Citrix PLATINUM Solution Provider, to implement a solution based on Microsoft Windows Terminal Server and Citrix Metaframe. With the solution in place, Summerville can now manage their entire Wide-Area Network (WAN) from a single location with only a minimal increase in staff, bring new facilities on-line within days instead of months, and corporate data is protected in a secured fully redundant system.

"With VSI and Citrix Metaframe, we were able to have 14 newly acquired facilities up and online, fully configured within 1 weeks time, there's no way that could have happened with 14 standard LAN configurations. In addition, we are able to easily manage our WAN and train users using standard Citrix utilities from our corporate office in Virginia".

Brian Lally, Vice President of Finance - Summerville Healthcare Group The first phase of the Enterprise design consists of a six Server WTS / MetaFrame fault tolerant Farm that uses their Wide Area Network, based on CISCO Data/Voice technologies. Mission critical applications can now be distributed to more 100 users at 37 remote sites throughout the United

States without any productivity degradation. Wyse 3515 Windows Based Terminals are used at each facility to decrease on-going management costs and increases user adoption. In addition, VSI implemented Voice Over IP (VOIP) technology to each remote location to increase WAN efficiency.

The IBVA System allows anyone to use their actual, real time brainwave activity to change movies as they are watched, create interactive brainwave influenced music, control digital video and sound, study hardcore brain activity, fight brain Vs brain against another person, trigger external devices and software as well as a full featured range of other brain/computer interface functions.
