Leading Online Christian Community Crosswalk.com Says Year-End Membership Passed One Million; Company Announces 'Next Logical Steps'

* Membership Up 80% Since Last Quarter * 4th Quarter Average Monthly Pageviews Exceeds 16 Million * Company Rejects New Barter Revenue * Profitability Set As Goal: Revenue Model Changed; Costs Reduced

CHANTILLY, Va., Jan. 28 -- Crosswalk.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMEN; AOL Keyword: Crosswalk), said today that membership of its www.crosswalk.com, the leading Internet portal serving the broad Christian community, exceeded one million at the end of 1999, up 80 percent over membership at the end of the third quarter. President and CEO William Parker said ``this represents a significant benchmark for us. It signals an opportunity for us to initiate the next logical and important steps in our growth. Our goal is to position ourselves, through a combination of revenue growth and expense reductions, to obtain a net profit as quickly as possible. Whereas there can be no certainty as to the date we will achieve that objective, we believe it could be obtained as soon as the fourth quarter of this year,'' Parker said.

The company announced the following:

Membership at December 31, 1999, was 1,085,878, representing an 80 percent increase over membership of 603,566 at the end of the third quarter, and a 636 percent increase in membership versus December 31, 1998.Pageviews during the fourth quarter averaged 16,323,504, a 37 percent increase over third quarter average monthly pageviews and a 641 percent increase over average monthly pageviews in the fourth quarter of 1998. Parker said that despite the gain, pageviews in the fourth quarter were below the company's expectations. ``During the quarter, we upgraded to new servers, a new operating system, and new database. As a result, we are prepared for our envisioned growth, but we underestimated the complexity of these moves,'' Parker said. ``For several days we did not operate as efficiently as we had hoped, our members were inconvenienced, and we believe that tempered growth in pageviews.''
