eMachines eTower 400id Receives Consumers Digest 'Best Buy' Award

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 23 -- eMachines, Inc. today announced that its sub-$600 eTower 400id PC was awarded a "Best Buy" in Consumers Digest Magazine's September/October Home Office Buying Guide.

Consumers Digest recognized the eTower 400id as having "outstanding value for today's consumer." The article stated that "DVD-ROM capability on a new PC needn't cost a fortune, as this eMachines entry proves."

eMachines recently introduced its newest DVD model PC that replaces the eTower 400id. The new eTower 400idx features a 400 MHz Intel Celeron processor with 128KB level 2 cache, a 5x DVD-ROM drive, 64 MB of SDRAM (expandable to 256MB), an ATI Rage Pro Turbo 3D AGP video card with 4MB of SGRAM, 8.4 GB hard drive, 56K V.90 modem, floppy drive and two USB ports. The eTower comes pre-installed with Windows 98 and Microsoft Works.
